Overview of Photography
I have worked as a commercial/industrial photographer for design firms, corporate art departments and as a freelancer. In addition to corporate photography I have been a stringer for the Atlanta Newspapers and produced magazine photography for both trade and news-stand publications. I followed the path taken by many well known photographers, working on the high school news & yearbook staff, going into the Navy to be photographer's mate (I ended up in avionics/flight simulators as a TRADEVMAN) and college classes in photograhy (26 semester hours). Once grounded in the basics quite a few photographers start assisting other photographers in a major city such as New York, L.A. or Atlanta. I worked in photo-electronic repair and assisted for 6 years, out of the Atlanta area. Photography Genres
EquipmentEquipment is a need and you will oftentimes find photographers totally about the most current equipment. The other end of the spectrum includes the Holga* tribe, looking at composition, feeling and form. I like a balance between technical and design, producing the best result to meet a client's needs. I have a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) and several lenses for meeting imaging needs ranging from wide angle to telephoto. SoftwareI have been working with digital images since 1988. I attended a 2 week course at The Maine Photography Workshops on Adobe Photoshop 1.0 in 1990 and have used Photoshop almost daily since. I also use Adobe’s Lightroom for initial processing and cataloging. Adobe's Create Suite, the current version being CS 5.5 fulfills web production needs with Adobe Fireworks.
